We can't do it without you!
A Letter from MPA teacher:
Hello Family and Friends,
I am a theater arts educator in the Pacific Northwest. Recently graduating from college, I am so incredibly privileged to have a job in my field of study. I have found my community and place of employment at Metropolitan Performing Arts, a small non-profit theater company located in Vancouver, Washington.
At MPA, we provide quality arts education to the Vancouver/Portland Metropolitan area to kids ages 5-18. Upon enrollment in our program, students learn skills ranging from performance, technical theater, and design. They have opportunities to apply these skills both on the stage in real-life situations. Our goal as an organization is to enrich our community by nurturing love and passion for live theater and art.
Times are scary right now. Everyone is being hit hard. But the places being hit the hardest are local stores, restaurants, and the performing arts, specifically non-profit theater companies and academies. Due to health concerns, the entire country is limiting social gatherings, therefore preventing shows from going up. As a small company, we rely heavily on ticket sales and enrollment to make ends meet. Right now, things are not looking very bright.
However, I’m reaching out to you for your support. With your donation or sponsorship, you can help keep the performing arts alive. As a 501(c)(3) recognized organization, anything you give qualifies as a tax-deductible donation. We would love to recognize your generosity, but we understand if you wish to remain anonymous. Whether it’s a $20, $1,000, or $10,000 donation, know that it is going towards an organization that continually enriches the lives of not only our community but our children, our future.
A personal note from an MPA student:
"Metropolitan Performing Arts is my second home. Ever since I started, I have found a place that accepts me as who I am. It's a place where I can truly be myself. Since I started doing shows, I've gained great friends. Some of these friends, I will carry with me for the rest of life. Others I will stay with as long as possible. With MPA, I have found my family. They are kind and let me do what I find makes me the most happy: singing, dancing, and acting. These simple acts help me express who I am, what I feel. Like me, many other kids/teens have found their home, their place where they can be themselves, their true selves. During these times, MPA is being dragged down. Soon my home will be unable to stay afloat. Please donate money to support MPA. Any way you can help is welcome."
Thank you for supporting the arts, and helping us keep education going,
Shannon Jung
