CLASSES

At Metropolitan Performing Arts we allow each student to realize and reach their creative potential.
We offer both technique and performance driven classes.
All classes are taught by professional artists with experience and training in their field. Learn more about them HERE.

To view audition information and all show related dates visit our Audition page HERE

CLASS COMMUNICATION
For class communication we use a free app called BAND.
This is the place where important class-specific information, announcements, parent volunteer sign ups and upcoming events will be posted.
It's also where recordings, sheet music, choreography videos, performance dates, etc will be uploaded for at home rehearsal.
BAND also allows students and teachers to connect one on one. Students and/or parents can ask clarifying questions directly to their teachers and teachers will have everything posted in one place rather than having to look through several emails.
CLASS TUITION
Tuition is due on the 1st of each month and may be paid via auto payment, check, or credit card.
There are monthly and biannual payment options available.

A $25.00 late fee will be accrued for all payments made after the 15th of the month.

Refunds and/or credits may be provided in extenuating circumstances (i.e. serious medical issues, relocation, etc.).

Just fill out the Add/Drop form available on our website here.
If dropping a class, charges will accrue until the Add/Drop form is received.

OFF BROADWAY

AGES 8-18
This fast-paced and fun performance class gives students the opportunity to work on the three essential disciplines that make up musical theater- singing, dancing and acting. Students will rotate through rehearsal focused classes in groups of same aged peers. Each group will learn at least one dance, one song and one scene, ending in a final showcase. Showcases at the end of the session are always free for family and friends! We recommend beginning/intermediate students who want to perform musical theater but don't necessarily have the time to commit to a main stage show to enroll in this class.

Intermediate/Advanced students who want to challenge themselves and put in the work are encouraged to enroll in this class.

Tech Certificate Program

Students signed up for this class will have taken the basic theater tech class first.  Students will meet twice a month with the Tech teacher to chat about their focus, what they have learned and for guidance in their field of interest.  Students will then pick a focus for the next show that they can work on and they will shadow the professional designer for that show.  Each student should have two credits (shows worked) in each technical theater focus, plus 3 additional credits of their choosing in Sound, Lights, Set/Scenic/Projections, Costumes, Stage Management, and Props.  After completing a design shadow in a specific field, the student can then apply to design their own Broadway Jr. or Off Broadway showcase.  After their 12 credits are completed (they could earn up to 5 credits a year if they want)  they can then choose to specialize in a particular area for their remaining 3 credits.  The program is completed when a student has 15 credits and will then ‘graduate’ with their technical theater certificate. This program looks great on a resume.

What People are Saying About MPA

"Just went to see Heathers the Musical last night and it was amazing! The cast is outstanding and Veronica played by local high school senior, Kennidy is phenomenal! The performance gave me goosebumps from the incredible vocals to the fantastic choreography. Metropolitan Performing Arts is definitely a hidden gem and I would love to go back for future performances" - Katya Ochoa

"Went with my daughter to see Heathers. I wasn’t expecting much from such a small town theater , but I was very wrong. Wonderful performances by all involved. Will definitely be on the look out for the next performance!!!" -Katie Novosselov

"I am so impressed with Metropolitan Performing Arts! We have had such a great experience in working with them each year. Barbara Richardson has been so helpful in making sure that our daughter was getting the best of care. I also really appreciate the high quality level of costumes and props and imagination that are put into the Harry Potter LARP camps and also the performances we've seen during the years. The acting examples of the teachers and of the older students speaks well of the quality of teaching that my daughter is getting. I feel very fortunate that we have found this academy. And best of all our daughter just loves coming! We wouldn't miss it! In a day and age when money is tight, we feel it is money well spent." - Emily Ihasz

"Metropolitan Performing Arts is a wonderful performing arts school for children. The instructors are knowledgeable, encouraging, and kind. Their classes, events, and camps engage young people." - Kristin Nordberg

"My daughter has been taking classes and performing with Metro for about a year and nothing makes her happier than being a part of this group. She has gained confidence and skills and has enjoyed every minute. She feels welcome and supported and encouraged by the warm and caring and talented staff. Metro is her "happy place." -Alia Woolfe Walsh

"My son has been with MPA since he was in 3rd grade. He came to me one day and said, "Mom, I want to be on stage." It is so amazing that there is a place like Metropolitan Performing Arts in our community to provide access to the arts for kids of all ages. Not just access, but QUALITY, authentic theater training, and classes. You've brought the passion out for my son. Thank you!" - Gail Moore

"Great program for kids. My daughters have learned so much about being in a show. From auditioning to take down a set and everything in between. Great teachers and great environment!" -Cristina Kennington

"My kids have been taking lessons and performing with this group for years. While always mostly happy with things in the past, after recent changes to staff and programming, we are super happy. Amazing tap and jazz teachers and some really fun acting teachers. My kids have learned so much at MPA."-Kristie Gebhard

"
We found Metropolitan Performing Arts by chance when I was looking for summer activities for my daughter. She loved it and now two years later being a part of the Metro Family has been such an amazing experience for us all. She has learned so much about singing, acting & dance. The productions are phenomenal, the instructors are passionate & make classes so fun for the kids. The friendships she has made and the confidence she has gained from taking part in shows & classes in these two years are priceless. Highly recommend for anyone with kids looking to find their niche in the performing arts!" - Joanna Connelly

"Life changing experience for my daughter! There has been a dramatic improvement in her grades at school and her drive to succeed in other areas of life since joining."- Melissa Galland
